Make a Gift

If you are 70 ½ or older you may make gifts totaling up to $105,000 a year directly from your IRA to qualified charities.*

Click here to learn about the new IRA Charitable Rollover Gift Annuity Plan.

The benefits of making a gift to Amherst College this way include:

  • If you don’t itemize deductions and are not yet required to take your RMD, a QCD offers all of the benefits of an itemized income tax charitable deduction.
  • If you are age 73 or older and must take your RMD, a QCD can satisfy your RMD without increasing your income taxes
  • Avoids income tax on IRA withdrawals.
  • Supports the important work of Amherst with a tax-free gift.
